We are happy to announce that our Middlesbrough office has been awarded the 2024 Sustainability KPI Award.
This recognition reflects the team’s collective efforts to implement practical and impactful environmental improvements, both at work and at home. Some examples of the initiatives carried out in Middlesbrough include:
- Improved window seals to reduce draughts
- One cup kettle to save water and unnecessary boiling of water
- Plants in the office
- Heating temperature reduction in warehouse, doors closed policy to reduce energy use
- Charity donation of old office furniture
- Introduced recycling to office and warehouse
- Replace mains powered desk lamp with USB LED
- Switch off when not in use campaign in warehouse, with sticker reminders
- Only use half office lights when able, don’t light unoccupied offices
- Switch off when not in use policy. This will be further improved this year, with remote control switches for sockets that can’t be reached easily
These efforts earned the Middlesbrough team 33.5 sustainability points, showcasing their dedication to making meaningful changes. Special recognition goes to Claire Hobson, who led the way in the internal Middlesbrough Enviro League and will receive a trophy for her contributions.
We also want to acknowledge strong performances from our offices in Dubai, Gothenburg, Aberdeen, and Bremen. Who all achieved the maximum KPI points available and in some cases submitted additional entries for consideration. Many thanks to Aleeyah Elorde, Matilda Gustafsson, Rachel Page, and Ioana Mihai for their excellent contributions to the competition and their continued commitment to improving sustainability at Bertling.
