The Golden week is the People’s Republic of China’s most extended holiday, and it's just around the corner running from 1 to 7 October 2022. Golden Week is the biggest week for tourism in China when people have a week off to reunite with families and take trips. Many tourist attractions raise ticket prices, prices of flights and hotel rooms soar during National Day Golden Week.
Securing reliable, on-time freight shipments and deliveries during peak holidays is especially critical and challenging during this time of the year in Asia.
Different sources consider Golden Week as a current “main risk” to consider in addition to the Zero-Tolerance Covid policy in China for potential supply chain disruption in Asia. Container shipping lines like Maersk deployed additional capacity already in August and in September ahead of the upcoming Golden Week to prepare for potential disruption and de-stress supply chains.
