Human rights day on 10 December 2024

Every year on 10 December, Human Rights Day reminds us of the need to protect and uphold equality, justice, and dignity for all people. At Bertling, it's important to ensure that our operations respect human rights and follow ethical standards around the world. But making this a reality takes effort, clear policies, and a strong commitment to doing the right thing.

Supporting Human Rights Through Responsible Business Practices

We are committed to improving how we manage human rights risks across our supply chain. This aligns with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), which requires businesses to take action to prevent human rights abuses and environmental harm in their operations.

While the law will only apply to certain companies starting in 2024, we follow its guidelines now. This means addressing issues like:

  • Child labor and forced labor
  • Unsafe working conditions
  • Discrimination and harassment
  • Environmental damage that harms communities

ESG SUSTAINABILITY HELPLINE

By working to prevent these risks, we aim to ensure that our business and our partners operate responsibly and respectfully.

A Safe Space to Report Concerns

To help us stay on track, we’ve created the Navex EthicsPoint helpline. This confidential service is open to all employees, subcontractors, and others connected to our work. It’s a place where anyone can raise concerns about issues like:

  • Human rights abuses
  • Corruption, bribery, or fraud
  • Health and safety risks
  • Data privacy breaches

You can report concerns online, by phone, or even by scanning a simple QR code. The helpline also provides access to our policies, so it’s easy to understand what to report and how.

Building a Better Business Together

At Bertling, we know that respecting human rights isn’t just about laws—it’s about creating a culture where fairness and dignity are a priority. This benefits not only our business but also our employees, partners, and the communities where we operate.

This Human Rights Day, we reaffirm our commitment to doing what’s right. By working together, we can ensure our business practices reflect the values of equality, justice, and respect for all.
