Bertling Logistics UK donates and volunteers at the Burnt Oak Community Food bank

Members of staff from the Bertling Harrow office took part in donating and volunteering at the Burnt Oak Community Food Bank.

Items such as clothing, educational books, food, drinks, and hygiene products were kindly donated by our staff and these were given to the charity.

The Harrow staff volunteered at the warehouse on Wednesday 6th December by decanting, sorting, and packing crates ready for the Thursday distribution, they also volunteered at the food bank on Thursday 7th December where they handed the items to the needy. The food bank takes place fortnightly and almost 190 people benefit from this food bank.

Burnt Oak Community Food Bank supports residents enduring financial hardship that results in food insecurity. Initially set up as a pilot scheme in March 2021 by the founder Deepa Chauhan the food bank has exceeded all expectations and to date, over 400,000 people have benefited from the food bank.

Burnt Oak Community Food Bank is situated in an area with one of the highest levels of deprivation and is accessed by residents, the elderly, young families, single parents, refugees & asylum seekers who have limited funds and are struggling financially.

The food bank has run primarily through private funding and ad hoc donations, the demand for their services has exceeded all expectations and they need the support of food donations to distribute at the food bank. They have a group of dedicated volunteers who can pick up collections in various stores across Burnt Oak, Colindale, Edgware, and surrounding areas.

Bertling Logistics Aberdeen Limited donated the grey cupboards as seen in the photos, these cupboards are used to organise and store provisions the charity receives.
